BroadBand Light treatment, also known as intense pulsed light therapy or IPL, restores vibrant, clear skin. After years of sunshine and environmental damage, your skin may be looking a little worse for the wear. Fortunately, treatments like BBL erase a significant amount of this damage.

Amazing Skin Results Without Surgery

One of the many benefits of this skin treatment is how many areas it can be applied to:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Shoulders
  • Chest
  • Back of the hands

These areas, which are often exposed to sunlight throughout the years, tend to develop hyper-pigmentation, sun spots, brown spots, wrinkles, redness, vascular lesions and pigmented lesions. If you’ve been thinking, “wouldn’t it be great if I could improve the way my skin looks?” then BBL may be right for you. It provides a way to turn back the clock on the visible signs of aging and UV damage.

The only way to know if you are a good candidate is to consult our team. Our experienced medical aestheticians will examine your skin, discuss your goals with you and let you know which treatments will be good options.

BBL

The Appointment: How it Works

BBL causes your skin to produce new collagen. This important protein in your skin is one of the reasons why young skin looks smooth and plump. Collagen not only diminishes with age, but also because of years of sun exposure and environmental damage. After BBL, your skin will gradually begin generating new collagen, and you’ll see an improvement in texture and overall appearance.

Today’s non-surgical cosmetic treatments are surging in popularity. They allow you to get back to your day without downtime. They don’t require general anesthesia so you’ll feel like yourself right away. BBL is among them.

Many people opt for multiple BBL sessions, spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. We may recommend multiple sessions for you, depending on your skin concerns. The handheld device has a small component on the end that pulses flashes of light beneath your skin. It’s normal to feel a slight snap or pinch against the skin as the device works. Numbing gel is applied to the skin beforehand.

You may experience redness for a few hours afterward. You should be able to apply cosmetics soon after, if you wish to. Brown spots and areas of hyper-pigmentation may appear darker temporarily, as the pigment clumps up and eventually peels away completely. Our experienced staff will provide recommendations for skin care products while you heal, to keep the skin protected and hydrated. The fall is a great time to get this treatment since you will need to avoid direct sunlight for a while. Your skin will be especially sensitive to UV damage as it heals.

In several weeks, you’ll likely see a difference after your first appointment. Skin will continue to improve with successive BBL treatments.
